Acropolis

This position helps explain why the terrain was so important in organizing the settlement. The acropolis was enclosed by a wall; on the western side, the cut rock itself completed the enclosure. Two postholes beside the entrance indicate that it may have had some kind of gate. The cistern was also located within this enclosure. The richest grave goods and the study of the human remains have led researchers to place the settlement’s privileged groups here.
Although erosion and looting have caused much of the housing to disappear, the surviving structures make it possible to identify an area distinct from the rest of the settlement. With your guide, observe how this elevated area, the house terraces and the valley relate to one another.
